Lucky Duck Sunday -  In recognition of how hard we've worked over the past year, we're holding an appreciation luncheon on the 5th Sunday, April 30. We'll have a joint service at 10 a.m. in the Family Life Center followed by lunch. Lasagna will be provided. We have signup sheets outside our worship areas for salad, bread and desserts. But wait, there's more! We'll have rubber ducks for all our volunteers and a lottery that goes with it, prizes, too!!! It's just a little way to say thanks for keeping WPC afloat with all the hard work.


Sunday School Updates - Sunday School has been extended through May 14. Below are the topics!


April 23  -  The Road to Emmaus – Who was the stranger on the road? Why does the Westminster Sanctuary have a tie to this story?

May 7   -   Doubting Thomas – Why did Thomas have doubts? What made him believe?

May 14  -   The Great Commission and The Ascension – What were Jesus’ final instructions to his disciples?


Adult Ed Updates - The final class in our series on the Rise of the Papacy from 1077 to the Reformation will be held Sun., May 28, due to the presenter's availability. On April 23, Don Damsteegt will present a Theology 101 session. Adult education is in the Atrium at 10 a.m. on Sundays. No class on  the 5th Sunday.


WPC Recognized by Save CR Heritage - Westminster was recognized April 12 by the Save CR Heritage, Wellington Heights Neighborhood and city of Cedar Rapids as the restored house previously on WPC property was unveiled after extensive renovations. It's beautiful and now for sale, eligible for the city's ROOTs program. Check it out at 1425 Fifth Ave. SE or see photos on our Facebook page. 


Great Music for a Great Cause - Joyful Noises-a Family Promise fundraiser concert will be held Friday, April 21 at First Lutheran Church. Auction basket bids start at 6 p.m. Concert featuring a variety of incredible musicians, starts at 7. There will be a free will offering. WPC has supported this ministry in the past so we hope you'll be able to attend!


Music, Music, Music - The Red Cedar Chamber Music Group will hold a concert in the Westminster Sanctuary Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. Guest artist will be California cellist Isaac Pastor-Chermak. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an evening of classical music.


Sing a New Song - Sunday, April 30, Cedar Singers Community Chorus begins its 3rd Season under the direction of Damon Cole. They practice the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m. in the choir room at Westminister Presbyterian Church. Our Fall Concert will be Saturday, November 4 at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary at Westminster. We welcome all Follies alumni and community singers  who enjoy singing a "variety" of music. Remember Our Honor Flight HonoreeChuck Crull will be leaving on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC April 25. Chuck served 15-1/2 years in the U.S. Army and was a medic aboard a helicopter during the Vietnam War. On the return trip, the veterans are presented with letters and cards that many of you wrote thanking Chuck for his service. Thank you, too, to Signe Henderson for accompanying Chuck on the flight. 


Discover Synod School - The annual midsummer ministry of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will be July 23-28 at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA. This year's theme, Let Justice Flow, features many different sessions including ones on vigilante justice and racism and thriving as a Christian educator. Loaves & Fishes Mission - Needs peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, soup and crackers and toothpaste and toothbrushes for the month of April. Please help out if you can. Just place the items in one of the grocery carts by the Family Life Center or in the reception area next to the Sanctuary.


Camp Wyoming - No, it's not too early to be thinking about summer camp. WPC has a long history of sending our kids to camp where they can experience new activities, make new friends free God's presence in nature.If you're interested in sending your children but could use financial help to do so, please contact Jan Kosowski, jmkosows@yahoo.com.
