Music Ministry

Music is an important part of our worship life and has always been a hallmark of Westminster Presbyterian Church.  In the Psalms, we are encouraged to make a joyful noise and come into God’s presence with singing.

Sunday worship is enhanced by an array of choral literature, vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles, with the voices of children singing praise, and by the collective voice of the congregation singing psalms, hymns, spiritual and praise songs in response to God's grace.

Chancel Choir

Chancel Choir practices on Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m. and leads the 11:00 a.m. service on Sunday mornings. We sing a wide variety of music incorporating everything from Bach to Spirituals.

The choir is open to anyone who has a love of singing.

The Chancel Choir is the  principal ensemble leading the congregation in worship at our 11:00 service. Beginning right after Labor Day, and continuing through early to mid-summer, Chancel Choir members meet from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays for rehearsal, fellowship, spiritual formation, and just plain fun. Chancel Choir is made up of volunteers, some who have had musical training and years of singing experience and others who have not. The common bond lies in an enthusiasm for great music and a serious commitment to our role as worship leaders. Mere performance is never our goal, though we always strive for a consistently high level of music-making. We make music within the context of biblical ministry and liturgy. We sing and play to God and for each other, committed to praise and to strengthening each other in the daily walk of Christian faith. Chancel Choir sings at most Sunday services.

Worship Team

The Praise Band

Entitled, "Pseudolaic", our praise band brings to our 9:00 a.m. worship enthusiasm and excitement.  Made up of piano, guitar, drums, and vocals, this fun and laid back group rehearses on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center.  Jason Wright leads this group of volunteers from the congregation.

If you’re interested in joining one of these groups, please contact the Church Office or the group’s director.  We look forward to welcoming you to our talented “family” of musicians!

Our handbell ministry is open to all who desire to ring in worship as well as enjoying the fellowship we share in preparation of the music. The expectations of every choir member, child or adult, are the same. The degree of talent is not important; however, the level of commitment is crucial.

Handbells meet for shorter periods throughout the year and and then participate in the leadership of worship.
